Happy Mardi Gras!!

Mardi Gras is here!! A few of the Krewes have already rolled. We went to Family Gras last sunday to see one of our favorite local bands, Cowboy Mouth: They'll fly to Iraq in March to play for the troops. Here's an article from nola.com: http://blog.nola.com/keithspera/2009/02/cowboy_mouth_to_entertain_troo.html
With Mardi Gras comes crawfish season!! This is for my mother-in-law!!! They are really small and very expensive this year, but soooo good!!

I'll never forget the night my mother-in-law taught me how to eat crawfish. I just looked at the little creatures, and was just glad they weren't moving. She showed me how to rip off the head, suck the juice out, peel the tail and stick it in your mouth while you reach for the next one. With the crawfish you have a beer. I had more than one :) and those little mudbugs were quite tasty!! My MIL told me that THEY have more beer in the fridge. For the longest time I wondered who the hell THEY were since it was her house. Who the heck would put beer in her fridge?? I now know that that's just what we say down here and now use the phrase myself.
I can't wait for my MIL to come down next week and eat crawfish with her!!
This is Rufi's friend 'the kitty' that's what I call her. He whines like a baby when he see's her but is afraid to get too close to her. She's been sleeping on top of the seat cushions out back. If she doesn't lay there she lay's on the chair at the neighbor's house all day long.

We may go to see the Krewe of Bacchus on Sunday. Val Kilmer will be the king. I hope we won't forget the camera this time.

Hey my children,
I can't begin to express how blessed I am having children like you two. I love the pictures on the blog but most of all I love the way my daughter talks about me. I use to prayer that God would send someone to my son that would be great for him, fit in the family, and be a friend and a daughter to me.....and He did!! I got Ellen....
Emile, I know you are a grown man but expect a lot of picture taking, and lots of hugs from your MOM.
The crawfish look great and I looking forward to spending time together as a family...so until I talk to you both again remember I love you both (and Rufi) and we will see you soon!!!
You have done a great job on your home from what I see....I'll see more when I get there........I'm looking forward to seeing the backyard, I spent a lot of time back there and I loved working in my garden...Well, see you soon.
Love, Mom and Bill

they got beer in the fridge... it's hilarious... that IS how it's said down here. :-) :-) :-)

you are right about the crawfish... my boss also owns a crawfish restaurant and he said they are having trouble finding good crawfish this year... oh well, that only means the crawfish will be EXTRA BIG and tasty next year. :-)
