Road Trip/Fireworks

We sadly left our suite and continued our little road trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama. This is a picture of the tunnel in Mobile. It normally is very crowded but it wasn't to bad on our way there . . . coming back was a different story!!!

We have passed the USS Alabama so many times but have never stopped to actually tour it. We will probably have to take a seperate trip to check it out.

After we checked in to our hotel we went to have an early dinner at Lambert's Cafe, Home of the throwed Rolls. Don't ever pass one of those up!!! http://www.throwedrolls.com/They serve some good 'ole country cookin'. They throw hot rolls to you, and serve pass arounds (their side dishes, like fried potatoes with onion, fried okra, etc). I am normally not an okra fan, but their fried okra is to die for!! We have never had dessert there, because the portions are just too big. The waiters are really funny and play jokes on you, they pretend they spill something on you or have some stuffed animal jump out of a pot. It's really a good time.

In the evening we went to this new place on the beach to watch the fireworks:

When they picked the name of the place they got it right. This is a 'real' hangout place. We really want to spent more time there next time. Their frozen drinks looked delicious!!

This place was every popular in the 50's and 60's, you can read about the history here:
