Nikolausparty 2009

The week after we got back from Branson, we were busy as some bee's preparing for our first inaugural Nikolausparty. Thought we'd keep some good 'ole german traditions going and invite some of our friends over for a podluck. When my brother and I were little, we'd have supper on St. Nikolaus Eve, then the Doorbell would ring and Santa Claus would come up the stairs with his scepter in one hand and his big book in the other, right behind him was 'Knecht Ruprecht'; his servant, who was evil and if you had misbehaved Knecht Ruprecht would stick you in his big sack. My brother and I of course had always been good and never had to experience being stuck in his sack, but he was very intimidating!!

Anyway, we decorated our tree, honestly I think it looks exactly like the tree last year. I missed my Mom's help decorating it, she did it the last 2 years.

Baked some of my favorite cookies, peanut butter with hershey kisses,

some carrot cake muffins, found the decorating ideas in a magazine and had to try them, and for the very first time: Peppermint Bark, which is sooo good and so easy to make, that'll be my new 'Christmas thing'.
The Party was a success. The food was unbelievable. One thing was better than the other and people just kept eating. There weren't hardly any leftovers, guess that's a good sign. I made 200 jello shots and most of them were gone by the time our last guest left at 4 am.
My German friends Aline and Nicole, (Luv you guys!) we had so much fun!!! Can't wait to go out with ya'll again.

I think our next party will be a Summerfest, since the next Nikolaus Eve is just too far away!!
