Thanksgiving in Missouri

We drove to Missouri this year to be with Mom & Bill for Thanksgiving. Rufi stayed with his vet since he doesn't like long car rides. We left Tuesday afternoon and drove into Arkansas where we spent the night. We just got too tired driving in the dark. We checked in a hotel along the interstate, and continued our drive the next morning. It's a really nice drive, through Lake Providence, LA. Lots of scenary, but also some one lane roads and very slow driving people.

Once we got in the car the next morning, we got to Branson in no time. We started preparing for Thanksgiving Dinner right away. We said we would only make small portions, that didn't work out too well. Even though we only fixed the things you HAVE TO HAVE for Thanksgiving.

We had a great relaxing Thanksgiving day to be ready for Black Friday. We got up at around 6.30 am. We went to this shopping center on one of the hills (everything is on one hill or another) anyway, they had a Kohl's (my absolute favorite store), Target, Super WalMart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Home Depot and I may have even forgotten a few stores in one place, within walking distance, how coool is that? The line at Kohl's was to the back of the store but in WalMart and Target it wasn't really too bad. I think we'll make Branson our Black Friday shopping trip. It was so much more relaxed than it is in New Orleans.

After Bill got off of work we took them to Lambert's the throwed rolls place. The original one is in Sikeston, MO and the other one in Ozark, MO which is not too far from Branson.

They enjoyed themselves and the food was really good. The only thing that was a little annoying that they gave us foil to wrap the left overs, they said that was so people wouldn't bag up all the pass arounds . . . they don't do that in Foley, AL. Well, next time we visit the Lambert's in MO we'll bring our own containers :)
Here's a picture of Emile and his Mom. Can't really say that he looks a lot like her. He's his Dad all over.

Before we left town we had dinner at Famous Dave's at the Branson Landing. The food was very good and the Landing very crowded.

After another relaxing evening we began our 10 hour drive down south Sunday morning. We picked Rufus up from the vet Monday.
Before we left we noticed that he limped a little and favored his 'other' leg. The vet gave us pills when we picked him up and said that he couldn't be running around like crazy, we really need to watch him, and that he may have to have surgery on the other leg, too. My poor Baby :(
