Gustav update 8-31 - 8.30 pm

He's still coming here, unfortunately. We've been in the hospital since around 4 pm today. Rufus seems to be holding up ok so far. They have an area set up for the pets and even a vet is staying with them. He seems most comfortable in his crate. We gave him a little pill for sedation and walk him every 2 hours. We walked him a few times already.
Things are sooo much more organized. We've been planing for almost a full week. Everybody is where they supposed to be, schedules are made.
A mandatory evacuation was ordered for our parish for 12 pm today, but by that time most people had already left. When we left to go to work at 4 pm we were almost by ourselves on the road. Seems like people learned their lessons and left before all hell brakes loose.

We brought plenty of food and drinks, I think we could live comfortably for weeks, please pray that we don't have to do that.

It started to rain a little while ago and the wind picked up but it all calmed down again. Just like the calm before the storm, it's a little scary but good to know that we are in a very safe place which is secured by Police, National Guard and our elite Security Force, of course. They all have weapons, BIG weapons, so people better don't mess with them. - how's that for naw'lins slang??

We'll be walking Rufi one more time and give him another 'happy pill' before we'll get some sleep here shortly. I am sure we'll be up really early, Emile has to start his shift at 6 am.
