The Carnival Conquest

was already docked by the time we got to Galveston. The drive down there wasn't bad at all, it took us just about 5 hrs including 3 stops. We parked the car in a lot near the port and took a shuttle to the terminal. The Carnival Conquest is one of the bigger Carnival Ships, yes, it's a ship, not a boat!!! The captain clarified that on the first day.
Total Staterooms - 1,487
Decks - 13
Passenger capacity - 2,974
Total crew - 1,150
Officer's nationality - Italian
Ship size - Large Tonnage - 110,000
Ship length - 953
Registry - Panama

Our stateroom was much roomier than last time. We picked an adjourning room and it had an extra sofa in it so we had no problems moving around our luggage.

We got thru the check-in process pretty quickly and after a short wait in the terminal were let on the ship. Lunch was already served and we explored the ship until our room was ready at 1.30 pm.

The Conquest has this awesome big screen TV on the Lido Deck. They played their morning show in the morning of course, then music videos while the band didn't play and movies at night. They even had popcorn. I thought it was one of the coolest things. You are in the middle of the Gulf, in the middle of the night, feel a nice breeze while you watch a movie right under the moon.

We had just laid down to take a little nap before dinner when they made an announcement about the Life-Drill. We thought about getting out of it at first but our conscience got us up anyway. On the last cruise we had to go to the theatre which didn't make any sense to me, why the heck would you want to go to the theatre when the boat, sorry, Ship is sinking? Well, good thing we went because this time our Musterstation was where our actual Life-Boat was. We had to line up and the alarm signal went off. They also made the Life-Jackets smaller. They are still kept in your stateroom, so when the Ship sinks and you are on deck 11, you have to run down to 1 to get your Life Jacket and then up 2 flights of stairs to your Life-Boat. Let's hope we'll never have to experience that!!

Our waiters were just as nice and attentive as last time. Really funny, greeted us by our names every time. They must have flagged me as being 'international' because at first our stateroom stuart brought me a Spanish Caper and we were seated with 2 German ladies, a couple from Australia, a couple from England and a couple from Dallas. They were all really nice and we enjoyed dinner with them.

That was if we could make it to the Dining room. We were just soo relaxed on some days, that we didn't even want to change into evening clothes and just grabbed a bite at the buffet instead.

Yes, it's the size!!
Cruises are awesome, you & Dan would love it!! Try a 3-day cruise out of NO. I'd even let you park your car at my house so you wouldn't have to pay for parking :)
