Pancho's is back!!!

We used to have a Pancho's before Katrina. We would eat lunch there once in a while. I have to say that there is better mexican food around, but their Sopaipillas are sooooo good. We would talk about it sometimes, and we really kind of missed it. I guess you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone.
Then the other night we went to meet some friends in a neigborhood we normally wouldn't go to, we drove off the parking lot and what do we see???? Pancho's!!! We went over a few days later to check it out and they had someone standing outside who told everybody that they wouldn't open for a few more days. I read an article online saying that between 300 and 500 people passed by every day to find out when they would open.
We gave it a few days and went back over there. The line was out the door, the food was good, the service ok . . . just like it is in any place that has just opened and has all new staff. The Sopaillias were as good as I remember!! One more 'pre-Katrina' thing back!!!

My friend Joy and her husband came down to visit last weekend. We had a really great time. Took a ride around the area, checked out our bridges, the Causeway, which is the longest over water brigde in the world, the Twin Spans and the Highrise. We also ate Beignets and Coffee at Cafe du Monde, went to the Strawberry festival in Ponchatoula. I only bought half a flat of strawberries this time and we made strawberry daiquiris when we got back, yumm!!
We love walking around in the city, we really don't do it often enough. If it were up to Emile we would be living right in the middle of the city and take the streetcar everywhere we go.

We'll be taking our Easter Holiday on Monday instead of tomorrow. . . I still have to go get some egg coloring stuff . . . I don't think the Easter bunny comes if you don't color your eggs!!!
