Cement - the new Grass

These summer months are really killing us, this year especially. It has been so hot and the grass just grows and grows and grows. It's a great exercise but if you HAVE to do it all the time it gets old quick. We just want to cement the whole place and paint it green. We ripped out one of the flower beds in the front of the house. It just get's so hot out there that no matter what kind of flowers you plant, they just die. We thought about buying a bench to sit out there, but I think we still have some patio chairs we may use, it's even too hot to sit out there right now.I gave Rufus a bath while Emile dealt with the grass. As soon as you take his collar off he knows exactly what's going to happen. He ran in the bathroom and then had to wait for me, since I was fixing dinner in between. He even jumped in the tub by himself.

Went to Sams the other day and saw these flowers, they have the wildest colors, they didn't really come out as good in the picture, they are neon colors, I don't think I've ever seen these colors on flowers before.

Last night I came home to: "Honey, I have to tell you something and you're not gonna like it . . . (I thought of a snake before he said:) There's a snake in the yard and he's pretty big" . . . I knew this day would come, and I also know that I live in southeast Louisiana and that there are swamps all around us and that we have canals around our subdivision but I still don't want those things here in my yard!!!

My MIL told me once that in the 30 years she lived in this house she had not seen one once, our neighbor told us the same thing, when we told him that "He" went into his yard.

We had a turtle in front of the front door one day . . . the closest canal is about a 1/4 mile away. I somehow knew that a snake would come visit . . . please don't come back for another 30 years. Now I am really afraid to let Rufus out by himself.

We bought some Snake Away . .. hopefully that will help.

the grass... one of dan's favorites... him and our next door neighbor mark have this "competition" going on. dan always want his grass to be shorter than mark's and vice versa. MEN...
