Rufus insisted on taking me to Alabama for my birthday this year. So off we went. We left Friday afternoon, made it to Gulf Shores in about 3 1/2 hrs, traffic in Mobile was just insane. We sat in traffic infront of the tunnel for over an hour. Rufus took a chill pill before we left so he was pretty calm but couldn't wait to finally get there.
He was really good. He didn't really care for walking around the room and sniff things out, he was most comfortable on the bed.
Whenever we left the room we left him in the bathroom which was huge. More than twice the the size of our bathroom at home. We just didn't feel comfortable leaving him in the room since the bed was over 3 feet high and having him jump up and down was just not an option. We put an ottoman in front of the bed for him to jump up on before jumping on the bed and he had it figured out pretty quickly but when he wanted to get off he just flew down the other side of the bed. Pretty scary at times we didn't plan on buying him another knee for Christmas again.

Someone suggested that we should go check out the Wharf in Orange Beach and find a nice little restaurant to eat my Birthday dinner in. I found Ginni Lane online and we thought we'd give it a shot.
The restaurant wasn't very large and their menu wasn't very large. They had the usual, soups and salads, for our Appetizer we got half Blue Crab and half Spinach & Artichoke dip, which was to die for, the waitress promised us, that they took all the calories out!

We both had Grouper for our main course . . . it soooo good. Emile had blackened Grouper with Crabmeat and I had the Orange Beach Grouper both came with Mushroom Risotto.
Since we were way too full for dessert we took a walk down the Wharf and looked at little shops and restaurants.
They also have a Ferris Wheel, which we thought about taking a ride on, that was before we saw the line . . . as well as a zip line.
They also had a band playing out there and people just had a good time. We decided to take a ride out to Florida to hang out at Florabama.
After breakfast at Cracker Barrel Sunday morning we went for a walk on the beach. At first we thought about bringing Rufus but they didn't allow puppies on that part of the beach. They had some nice waves out there and it got hot quick.

We also did our usual routines while down there, one is of course hitting the Outlet Mall, found some cute Crocs that I can even wear at work; I had the fashion police with me, that made things easier, and went to eat at Lambert's, the throwed rolls place. Can't wait to go there with Mom and Bill.
My co-workers suprised me with a cake on Monday.

The place is built pretty weird, with bars on every corner, places to eat, dance, live music outside to just have a good 'ole time. And people do seem to have a good time as you can see by all the bra's handing from the line across the tent.

So far, the 30's aren't so bad. I wouldn't want to be 20 again.
