Our original plans were to take him to our vet here but they are closed due to personal issues. The first night I slept in the living room with him on the floor. Why didn't anybody tell me that once you hit 30 you can't do things like that anymore??? I felt every single bone in my body the next day.

I dragged the futon mattress in the living room which made things much more comfortable and that way we can sit with him and he's not shut off completely. He now sleeps in a little blocked off area in the hallway, I just can't do the floor thing when I have to go to work the next day.

We must keep him still and keep him either in a kennel or in a small room for the next 4 wks and after that he has to be supervised for another 4 wks. The vet said that if he doesn't do anything stupid like jump off of anything or jump up on the couch he should recover fine.
His little leg is still bandaged up. He tries to protect it and hold's it up most of the time. The doc said he could take it off but I'd rather keep it on as long as possible, to protect his knee. They also shaved parts of his little hiney - he doesn't like that too much.
And his arm where the IV went in:
We have to carry him outside and let him go potty on a leash. It's a job but we are glad he's doing fine.
We take turns to sit with him whenever we can. I think it's harder on us than it is on him. He really get's more rest when he's home alone so going to work won't be an issue. He has to take meds every 12 hours. He's been taking them without problems. This morning I couldn't seem to give him the right food with it. He would eat everything but the pills. I finally gave in and fried some bacon and that did the trick.
We'll keep him home until Friday, then take him to the vet. That's best for him because he needs to get all the rest he can get.

I have to say that the vets and also the vet techs are so much nicer than 'people' doctors. Not that our docs aren't nice but the vets seem to care soo much more and they can't do enough for you.
