'Gustav' Pictures - Finally

This was on the way to the hospital. It already rained pretty hard but then it stopped and didn't rain a whole lot during the storm. These were our sleeping accommodations in our boss' office. Thanks again, Jean for letting us bunk with you!!
This is the 'mess at my desk'. We brought whatever we could think of and whatever we didn't bring for Katrina.
Here's my baby on a break. This is where Rufi spent the night. They put fan's all over. We also had a fan for him so he would stay cool. It actually wasn't as dark in there as the pictures shows but it sure was loud, lot's of barking puppies.

And here's our gate . . . or what is left.

The siding : The fence is leaning and look at the marks on the fence where the wind blew the bird of paradise back and forth.
This was the last tree standing. We had the 3 that were next to this one cut of last year. The neigbhors told us that the wind bent the tree over, far over, the backyard neighbor said that he heard it cracking.

We got rid of it last weekend, didn't waste any time and this is what is left of it:Emile went out to buy a Generator Thursday. We hooked a fan, the TV (most important!!) and a light to it. Friday afternoon we went to Sams and bought an A/C window unit. We installed it got very comfortable watching TV, the room was just nice and cool when the power came back on. Oh well, I am sure we can use all of this again and don't have to spend the money next time. Living here in SE LA we are pretty sure that there will be a 'next time' sooner or later.

We took Monday off to relax. We rented a few movies and at around 1.30 pm cable/phone and internet came back on. We are back to our 'normal' life!!

The stores are still barely stocked. We stood in line Saturday to pick up a few things at WalMart. They only let a few people in at a time. Once we got in we split up and got what we wanted to and got back out. On Sunday we drove all around town to find ice-cream. I've had a craving for ice-cream for days. We finally found some in the 4th store.

I think everything should be back to normal by this weekend. Hopefully Ike stays away. We are really not to worried, but then you just never know!

I'll try to post some Europe pictures this weekend.
