Update 9/1 - 12:00 pm

The storm is not over yet and they said that it could take another 6 - 7 hours. We are fine waterwise at this time. It's raining but nothing is flooding here. Earlier, about an hour ago the Industrial Canal was topped off and water came over the levee but there was NO breach. A barge broke loose and could be a threat.
Hyw 90 is blocked by trees in the Houma area. The wind damage is pretty bad out there, don't know anything about the water/flooding, this is according to Fox 8 news.

We lost power at the house a few hours ago. I got this email alert about the power being out:

From the City of Kenner: Widespread electricity outages have occurred throughout the City of Kenner on Monday, but city officials continue to operate without any issues. At 5:45 a.m., Kenner Police Headquarters, home to the city's Unified Command Post, which is monitoring the effects of Hurricane Gustav, reverted to power generators, which have the capabilities of running indefinitely. During Hurricane Katrina, the generators ran nonstop for two weeks. Kenner Police Chief Steve Caraway said Monday there were no arrests this weekend even as he boosted the number of patrols. Also, no fires have been reported, according to the Kenner Fire Department.

We are still on Generator power, our cell phone service is gone. We just ate lunch and are waiting for Gustav to get the hell out of here so we can take Rufi home.
I spoke to the vet and asked him about his sedatives, he said we could give him more than what he is getting now but he seems to be fine. I put the fan on him, the wind is also blowing his way a little, so he's fine.
